Born in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary, Orsolya Sáfár completed her master's degree in singing and teaching at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest with honours in 2004. After two years at the Hungarian State Opera's OperaStudio, she became a soloist at the Opera from 2006.
During her university years, she achieved excellent results in several competitions, winning an Artisjus Award for her performances and efforts to promote contemporary Hungarian music and a Bayreuth Festival scholarship from the Budapest Wagner Society. In 2015, she was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit of the Republic of Hungary. Since 2005, she has appeared in every domestic theatre where opera is performed, as well as at major Hungarian and international festivals. She is also active as a concert singer, with a repertoire that extends from the Baroque to the contemporary and includes a large number of songs, song cycles and oratorios.
